The Cellocator Handsfree unit allows for full duplex voice connectivity via microphone and speaker. The driver may initiate, answer and disconnect calls via a service button, or alternatively, by pressing the panic button. An auto answer mode additionally enables the call to get through without driver involvement, serving as a useful tool in times of distress or as a safety measure.
The destination of the call is programmed with a predefined number (i.e. the service centre). The Cellocator Handsfree unit also supports silent monitoring, in which the caller can listen to the driver and what happens in the cabin but the speaker is muted.
The unit controls the transmission of the voice from the car to the GSM network and vice versa. It also controls the voice characteristics such as ringer volume, speaker volume and microphone gain. The unit is also responsible for echo cancelling, a must for full duplex operation.
